There are two differed setups throughout the 3MA-range concerning the CDI's
In big lines:
A 3MA1 is only equipped with one CDI box that controls ignition and ypvs
A 3MA3/4 and 5 are equipped with two boxes one control's ignition the other the ypvs
The separate box (mounted at the frond) on a 3MA3/4 and 5 is only giving the coil and tacho a ignition pulse (orange wire)
It amplifies the ignition signal coming from the CDI box (blue/whit wire) underneath the tank, it does not create or calculate it.
What difference CDI's are there for the 3MA1, 3MA3, 3MA4 and 3MA5
The 3MA1 can use the following CDI's
1) 3MA-00 CDI
2) 3MA-01 CDI
3) 3MA-70 CDI (for the 89 model)
The 3MA3/4 and 5 can use the following CDI's
1) 3MA-10 CDI
2) 3MA-11 CDI
3) 3MA-20 CDI
4) 3MA-70 CDI (for the 90 model)
The 3MA3/4 and 5 can use the following (frond) units
1) 3MA-10 unit
2) 3MA-11 unit
Example combination
3MA-10 CDI (mounted underneath tank)
3MA-11 Unit (mounted at frond)
Ignition signal from a running 3MA10-CDI measured on the (blue/white) wire vs outgoing IC pulse.
Green: Outgoing ignition pulse (blue/white wire)
Yellow: Outgoing ignition pulse from the IC.
Ignition signal from a running 3MA01-CDI measured on the (orange) wire vs outgoing IC pulse.
Green: Discharging of the capacitor (ignition pulse to the ignition coil orange wire)
Yellow: Outgoing ignition pulse from the IC.
